Gardening Gurus

The Gardening Gurus certainly have been very busy this year developing our vegetable garden and maintaining various sections of our gardens. During Term 2 we planted silverbeet, beetroot, radishes, garlic, cabbage, carrots, rhubarb, tomatoes, shallots and HEAPS of potatoes. Many children are enjoying working in the garden and watching the vegetables grow. Last week all children sampled the fresh carrots and radishes and over the rest of the term they will be able to taste a range of school grown produce.

The project is a great way of teaching children about healthy eating as well as educating them about maintaining a sustainable vegetable garden. It has been very pleasing to hear about the wonderful vegetable gardens the children have constructed (many by themselves) at their homes as a result of the passion they have developed from being a participant in the group.
